The Gospel according to Bono
Regular readers of Faith Reflections will know that one of my heroes is the lead singer of the band U2, Bono. On the weekend I came across an excerpt from the book Bono: In Conversation with Michka Assayas. It seems clear that he has both thought and read widely, and perhaps been particularly impacted by the work of C.S. Lewis and Philip Yancey in the way he unpacks what he believes. I found what he had to say helpful, so I edited out the voice of the interviewer and simply let Bono’s words speak for themselves. Have a read and see how you are affected:

What is freedom?
It’s a paradox I’ve been doing some thinking. I had a chat with a friend who is discovering the freedom that comes from following Jesus. At the moment it seems a number of my friends are discovering the same thing. I love that real faith is about freedom. What I have been thinking about though, is that a few of my friends who are discovering this seem to be very nervous about putting themselves again in a place where they might lose that freedom. I might be wrong but it seems a few of them are nervous about commitment for fear of losing freedom. As I process what I think I am…

Welcome to my new Blog…
Well here it is.. the first post in my new blog… I was wrestling with whether to do it or not and wondered what I could contribute that would be of any use. I know calling a blog “Living Faith” sounds a bit pretentious, but for me it’s probably more a question or a quest than an answer. I have always been a bit suspicious of religious people and this blog is (hopefully) not going to be about religion. For me faith is a living thing.
