Fusion
Fusion Australia Ltd is a volunteer Youth and Community organisation with a vision of “Bringing Young People and their Communities Together with Hope”. Fusion programs seek to transform communities so that young people are given the future they deserve and operate with the values “build people up, help people grow because people matter”.
Fusion is a Christian organisation that is not tied to any one church denomination and works in partnership with all levels of government, businesses, schools, universities and other youth agencies. Fusion is also a Registered Training Organisation and is accredited to deliver the Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards program. Started in Sydney in the 1960’s, by Mal Garvin (well known communicator, broadcaster, author and community networker) Fusion has 30 centres across Australia, and in recent years has spread around the world to countries including India, Greece, Germany, Albania, Jamaica, UK, Canada, Nigeria, USA, Indonesia, Ghana and China.
Activities include:
- Homeless youth accommodation services (over 40,000 bednights provided annually)
- Mental health services
- School activities including breakfast clubs, lunchtime programs, skills based employment education, adventure based learning
- Weekend adventure day trips for young people
- Parent and youth mentoring programs
- “Pilgrimage to Uluru” helping young people to be “ambassadors for reconciliation”
- Community Festivals and celebrations
- Owns and operates Poatina Resort Village in Tasmania, acquired from the Hydro in 1995 and now a highly successful youth rehabilitation scheme, international training base and tourism facility
One of the unique features of Fusion’s work is that the majority of staff do not receive wages in the traditional sense, but are full time volunteers who are supported financially by people, businesses, churches and organisations. Most of the staff live well below the poverty line in order to deliver the much needed services that the organisation provides.
I would like to join fusion at Poatina as a volunteer. I live in a Bedford bus and was wondering if i could bring it and my small dog. I have filled out form but dont know address to post it or can i apply online please email best way to apply thank you
