How Should Christians Engage With Politics? A Christian Response to Division and Power
Politics can easily shape us more than Jesus does. In a divided world filled with outrage, fear and tribalism, 1 Peter offers a different vision. Followers of Jesus are called to engage politically with truth, humility, justice, mercy and compassion — without placing their hope in power or political tribes.

Two Kinds of Power: Why Love Is Stronger Than Control
We are living in a moment where power matters more than ever. But there are two kinds of power: the power to control and the power to love. Which one shapes your life?mili

Who Do You Trust? Jesus is the Light in the Darkness.
The world feels unstable. AI in government, protests in the streets, division everywhere. Who do you trust? The Bible shows us Jesus — the light in the darkness, the embodiment of God’s grace and truth. Trusting Him is the way to real life, even when the world feels uncertain.

Why Nations Rise and Fall
The Glory of God is not a fleeting light; it is the weight that sets the world right. Systems built on greed and oppression will crumble, but those shaped by justice, mercy, and compassion endure. In every act of fairness and care, we reflect His Glory into a broken world

What Donald Trump’s election win tells us about our world. (part 2)
Donald Trump was uniquely positioned to tap into the massive societal changes brought about by democratising information and the erosion of traditional power structures. Trump’s approach to relationships exemplifies this individualistic moment. Known for his transactional style, he builds alliances with those who benefit his goals and distances himself from those who do not. Unlike many conventional politicians who adhered to established rules of political decorum and relied on traditional media, Trump understood the power of direct, unfiltered communication through platforms like Twitter and alternative media channels. By bypassing traditional news outlets and speaking directly to people online, Trump tapped into a growing distrust of mainstream institutions and capitalised on…

What Donald Trump’s election win tells us about our world. (part 1)
I, like many others have been doing some reflection following yesterdays election result. I am more and more convinced we are in the midst of a massive societal shift that we are only now beginning to wake up to. This is part one of my reflection trying to wrestle with where we are and what it means. Someone I love very much said yesterday, “Are Americans stupid? How could they elect a man like that?” The truth is that while Donald Trump’s re-election has left half of America—and many around the world—bewildered and unsettled, the other half feels vindicated and empowered. Trump’s win feels like a reclamation of values and…

Coronavirus might be a start and not the end.
The Coronavirus is like a big flashing neon sign for each one of us. It is screaming at us that our world is more fragile, and we are much more dependant on one another than we ever imagined.

The Radical Political Agenda Behind Christmas
We Christians need to constantly be reminded what kind of political game we are meant to be playing. Since about 300 A.D. the Christian church has made the same mistake over and over again: We have been seduced into reaching for political control and it has never ended well. Christmas reminds us that there is indeed a new King, and His kind of politics is the only kind of politics that actually produces lasting change.

Left and Right are both Wrong, and I am over it.
I am sick of hearing about the “Extreme Right” and the “Radical Left” every time I tune in to any form of news commentary. I am frustrated that political leaders have bought into the rhetoric and that those on the supposed “other side” are vilified and dehumanised. I am furious that Christian leaders have decided to pick political sides and now find themselves attempting to defend behaviour that no person with any shred of morality would consider ok. We need to develop a more nuanced understanding of the forces that govern our political structures and realise that none of us lives in either a right wing or left wing world.…

Jesus was not a socialist or a capitalist.
Some of my friends are very clear about what they consider the “right” party to be voting for.. I am less certain. I have friends on both sides of the two-party political divide (as it is in Australia) and I, like many people, find myself both drawn and repelled by both aspects of the policy platform of each party. So how do I make the decision? After some reflection I think there are a few principles that anyone seeking to be a follower of Christ should have in mind when they walk into a ballot box. 1. We are called to engage in civic life under the leadership of people…
