Different Days

Nice for a change

Today is a different day.

Its been raining for most of the day and the weather has been coming from the east – which is very unusual.

It’s also different because there are no meetings, training sessions or phone calls I need to manage.

It is a day without much of an agenda at all.

We started today with a working bee in the driving rain, which was actually quite enjoyable. A group of us, led by my wife, emptied out two houses which will be done up for a group of workmen who are about to descend on the village.

We got drenched, and my son stepped on a nail, but that was all o.k. (mind you I thought we might have needed a trip to the doctor when I saw the blood).

The rest of the day has been quite relaxed.

Today reminds me of the importance of Sabbath.

For the Hebrews Sabbath really was a ‘different day’, a day to interrupt the warp speed of normal life and take a breath.

I have taken the chance to come out to my office and catch up on all of my unread emails… but allowed myself the chance to write this and not get too focused on the emails.

Its been a big week.

Its been a week of meetings and people, teaching and listening.

It’s nice to have a different day.

Just as I wrote this, the power went off. Looks like it will also be a different night!
