Sunday is coming
Devotion given Wed 31/03/2010
When a key person who is part of your reference system, is no longer around, its normal to go through a grief cycle.
I first recognised the grief experience when a good friend and Fusion leader, Bob Adams died of cancer.
Another time was an accident in Launceston when a little boy was seriously hurt at an Easter festival – it has coloured my feelings about Easter since then.
I have valued the fellowship of the other guys on the Field Leadership team. I hit a personal low point last Thursday afternoon… the “grief curve” low point is depression.
The grief cycle colours the way we see the world and life, ie denial, depression, hope – all give us different views on life.
2 Corinthians 5:14 – “for Christ’s love compels us”. Starting point has to be the love experienced by God
Helps us see people for their potential.
Vs 18 – “…God reconciled himself to us… gave us the ministry… the message… of reconciliation.”
Ministry – means service, called to serve; called to bring people into relationship with God; to have shalom with him. The Hebrew word Shalom literally means everything having its right place.
Seen glimpses of shalom at Poatina and within Fusion. Ie at the end of an Uluru trip, young kids’ lives changed. Ie. Young people talk about their life being changed from being in Poatina even if its only a short time. Ie. Packing up after Friends of Fusion earlier this month, fellowship together.
“Message of Reconciliation” – not just to serve, but to tell people where it comes from.
Love people so they can be reconciled to themselves, others and God.
What we are feeling doesn’t always reflect reality.
In this period of transition, need to find new ways of operating; old way no longer working. Discover new ways based on values.
Faith in seeing world from God’s perspective.
Good Friday is about death.
Sunday is about life, celebration. ….Sunday is coming.
