Seeing people with hope
Devotion given 24/03
Last time I shared we looked at Fusion’s mandate, particularly vs 14 of 2 Corinthians 5 – “for Christ’s love compels us…”
I referred to Conference time, when Mal stepped down and there was the “handover”; I did the devotion immediately after it and spoke about when Moses handed over to Joshua, and David handed over to Solomon – both passages refer to an encouragement to “be strong and courageous”.
Poatina’s slogan is “the way life was meant to be”. It is a dream, easy to see where the dream isn’t happening, plenty of gaps etc. However we are attempting to create a little piece of the Kingdom of God.
Vs 16 & 17 of 2 Corinthians 5 sum up our approach of working towards the dream of Poatina and Fusion.
Vs 16 says “we regard no one from a worldly point of view…” If we have a worldly view, we end up rating ourselves with success, things, what we have or don’t have…
Difference between being a disciple and a Christian; a disciple is about choices, to be disciplined…
A recent book about community says “community is where the person you least want to be with, is”
If I truly want to be in community, then I need to be willing to allow God to show me the person I need to love… face the pain… journey to become freer…
Fusion is going through one of its most difficult periods – and its important to keep remembering why we are here…
It is our job to see people with hope, not as the world sees them.
